Jewelry That Makes a Statement

Just in time for gifting season, Ippolita’s bold jewelry designs get a home of their own on Madison Avenue.
Description
Insider Exclusive Offer:

Since 1999, when Florentine artist and jewelry designer Ippolita Rostagno launched her New York–based fine jewelry company, Ippolita, the line has been a favorite of celebrities and in-the-know New Yorkers. It has been a top seller at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and other luxury retailers for years, but now, for the first time, Ippolita can claim a home of its own in the city with the opening of its first retail store, on Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side.

The jewel-box space is intimate in size yet spacious enough to show off the company’s gold, sterling silver, and rose gold pieces, which are as graphic and bold as the designer’s sculpture work, yet restrained, feminine, and elegant. “We had a good feeling about opening here, because the brand is incredibly strong in the city, and for years customers have been asking why we didn’t have a store already,” says Ippolita CEO Joe Cavalcante. “Having our own store gives us the ability to merchandise pieces in new and exciting ways, and to offer items that aren’t available anywhere else.”

Cavalcante points to Ippolita’s sterling silver Wonderland collection as a prime example. The pendants, earrings, bangles, and rings of this popular group come in a full rainbow of colors that are not available in other stores. Priced from $250 to $3,495, they make great gifts. So too do pieces from the Lollipop collection, which are similarly colorful and full of organic shapes but are offered in 18-karat gold and range from $595 to $15,000. Lollipop pieces with tiny pavé diamonds fall into the brand’s couture collection and are displayed in cases at the center of the store. Cascading diamond earrings and pavé diamond rings can approach $40,000. Additional pieces include vintage, one-of-a-kind coral and turquoise beaded necklaces and one-off python clutches.

The new boutique is the first step in a plan to open 12 retail outlets in the next four years and gain a reputation as the intellectual, spirited woman’s fine jewelry choice. “Ippolita is not about age,” says Cavalcante. “It’s youthful in spirit but meant to be worn every day, like other fashion accessories.”
